A case study for moving ICT forward in schools:

The Dartford Partnership of school includes Dartford Technology College and six Primary feeder schools. It is a partnership built on trust and a genuine desire to enhance learning for pupils aged 5-18 years and it has two aims:-
"To raise achievement through cross phase collaboration."
"To develop ICT as a tool for learning."
The partnership has been supported and allowed to develop through the technology college community grant and Ellite Consulting Limited.

The Challenge.

At the beginning of year 2000 Dartford Technology College had a dual challenge which we were determined to meet.

  1. First of all we needed to review our considerable ICT expenditure and to re-asses our strategy for ensuring that every element of our ICT endeavour was producing the best learning outcome and best value for money. We wanted to push forward pupil and staff skills (and to a level to which ICT was integrated into the curriculum).
  2. We needed to develop a means of fulfilling our community commitment - not just to our Primary feeder schools but beyond that to the community of families and businesses in which we live and work.

The Solution.

The college would never be able to meet this dual challenge simply using in-house time, resources and expertise.

The decision was therefore taken to engage an outside agency who would be able to provide the crossover from the IT would to the specific world of education. The role would be detailed and comprehensive. To move us forward in all areas of the challenge within clear parameters of time and cost.

Implementation.

In February 2000 Ellite Consulting Ltd began working for Dartford Technology College with the dual role of moving forward the use of ICT at Dartford Technology College and fulfilling the community commitment as laid out in our technology college Trust mandate.
